School Management Software: Build for Parents, Not Just the Office
There are three groups using a school system and they want completely different things. Get any one of them wrong and the whole thing gets abandoned within a term.
Teachers: fewer taps or they won't use it
Attendance should take under a minute for a full class, from a phone, in Bangla if they prefer. Mark entry should accept a whole subject in one screen. If a teacher has to log into a desktop and click through five menus, the paper register wins.
Parents: no app required
Many guardians won't install anything. Results, notices, attendance and fee status should work in a mobile browser, with SMS as a fallback for the ones who won't open a link either. Depending on an app install is how you end up back on the phone.
Office: the parts that pay for the system
- Fee heads, waivers, due lists and collection reports
- Online admission that reduces counter queues
- Configurable grading, so your marksheet format is respected
- Tabulation and printable results without manual re-entry
Madrasahs need their own grading
Hifz progress and Kitab subjects don't fit a general school template. If you run a madrasah, confirm the grading rules and marksheet layout are configurable before anything else — retrofitting that later is expensive.
